Where is the library? When is it open? Do you have a printer? Here are the answers to almost everything you need to know to save time and money as a new student.

Where is the library?

NMBU has two libraries, in the Veterinary Building and at Sørhellinga. Both libraries can be used by everyone. You will find a few more books for REALTEK and MINA at Sørhellinga, and most of the veterinary literature is in the Veterinary Building.

At the library you can read and study, meet friends, find literature, learn more on how to search and use EndNote, participate in events and much more.

When are the libraries open?

Monday-Thursday: 08:00-20:00

Friday: 08:00-18:00

Our opening hours can be limited during public holidays.

What kind of support do you offer?

Every question is a good question in the library. We help you with your literature searches, databases, EndNote, reference lists / bibliographies, the location of the nearest printer and much more. We're here for you!

How do I borrow books?

All students and staff at NMBU are automatically registered as patrons at the University Library. Student card / employee card works as a library card. Get the latest version of the student card, and it will also give you access to the Veterinary Building and Bikuben.

Where can I find the books?

You can search for books and articles in nmbu.oria.no, then you will find both printed and electronic. Log in with your NMBU username and password (Feide login).

In Oria, you can choose to search in all Norwegian subject libraries at the same time, or you can limit the search only to the library at NMBU. Each book has a shelf signature, a number and letter combination, which tells you where to find the book.

If you do not find what you are looking for at NMBU, you can order it in Oria. The library will make sure to obtain the material from other libraries. If you have any questions, ask us for help at the counter or by e-mail: biblioteket@nmbu.no

Can I read electronic literature off campus / do I have access from home?

Students and staff at NMBU can access the University Library's e-books, articles and databases off campus. You can use either VPN (Virtual Private Network) or Home Office to access the same resources as when you are physically on campus.

Information on how to create a VPN or Home Office can be found at Remote Access - NMBUhjelp.

Do you lend out the syllabus?

The libraries have textbooks for loan. Some syllabi have a 1-week loan period, so put yourself on a waiting list if the book is on loan.

How long can I borrow?

Most books have a 4-week loan period, but some have shorter ones. Check your page in oria, where you can also extend / renew the loan period. You can also contact the library.

Where do I return books?

You can return books in both our libraries. There is also a drop-off box outside the door that can be used after hours.

Where is the nearest printer / copier?

The veterinary building - in the hallway outside the library, by the group workplaces.

Sørhellinga - by the reading room on the floor above the library.

The student card is also the copy card you use to print.
