We are excited to announce that our ten newly enrolled doctoral candidates in the VIMAS network have successfully completed the MMV12 Conference in Schneverdingen, Germany, and the first Training School hosted at the University of Copenhagen.

Welcome to VIMAS PhD fellows!

The MMV12 Conference on Monitoring and Management of Visitors in Recreational and Protected Areas, provided our doctoral candidates with unique insights into the field. The conference set out to answer who is where, doing what, and when across over 30 sessions, keynotes, workshops, and informal talks.

VIMAS project leader Øystein Aas had the opportunity to present the project and provide good insights into the MSCA - Doctoral Network to a vast audience attending the conference.

In addition, our doctoral candidates had the opportunity to participate in our first Training School at the University of Copenhagen. The Training School offered a valuable opportunity to develop skills and network with peers and experts in the field.

VIMAS DCs had also the opportunity to spend some time together and discuss future collaborations within and between the individual Work Packages, both via in class presentations and by outdoor activities organized by our host PIs Hans Skov-Petersen and Anton Stahl Olafsson from Copenhagen University. Kayaking in the beautiful Copenhagen's canals and biking in the natural area of Amager were perfect examples of Visitor Monitoring activities in the field.

A communication workshop was arranged by the VIMAS DC Coen van Bendegom and carried out by VIMAS project manager Erica Maremonti. The output of the workshop was a common VIMAS Communication Strategy that will be carried out via different SoMe platforms, including VIMAS LinkedIn page.

In connection with VIMAS communication strategy, blog posts written by the doctoral candidates within individual work packages will soon be published on the VIMAS blog. These posts will provide deeper insights into the candidates' research and experiences during the conference and training school.
We congratulate our doctoral candidates on their achievements and look forward to their future contributions to the VIMAS network and their individual fields of research.

Stay tuned!
