NMBU’s Sustainability Arena TOWARDS – Towards Sustainable Cities and Communities – announces six stipends each year, NOK 8 000 per stipend, for students that are writing their MSc thesis at NMBU.
Funds are awarded to master projects relating to “transformation towards sustainable local communities”. More specifically to the topics; green technologies, social justice and health, and lived environments.
What does the stipend cover?
- Travel expenses
- Accommodation expenses (food not included)
- Research expenses (for example a translator)
- Equipment expenses
- Course and conference fees etc.
- Other (could for example cover a stipend for publishing a MSc – both a review article or popular science – during or after grading)
How much can I apply for?
- TOWARDS’ coordination committee distributes a maximum of NOK 48 000 per year divided into a minimum of six stipends of NOK 8 000 - or more stipends with a smaller amount.
How can I apply?
- Master students can apply twice a year, deadline March 1st and October 1st. Send in your application in Norwegian or in English through this form.
The application should contain:
- Name, study program, department, faculty of the student (or students if you write a joint MSc thesis)
- Name of the supervisor
- Short summary of the MSc thesis (and explain why you apply for the TOWARDS stipend)
- Overview of estimated costs
What happens after I applied for the TOWARDS stipend?
- The student will be notified within 4 weeks after the application deadline (March 1st or October 1st), explaining if the application was approved and what amount TOWARDS stipend will cover. The student must present expenses (receipts) to receive the stipend afterwards.
